Patrick the Pony receives international Animal Heroes award

Patrick, an eight-year-old Shetland therapy pony from Devon, has been awarded the Honourable Global Medal for the 2025 Animal Heroes Hall of Fame awards. The recognition honors animals that make extraordinary contributions to people and communities worldwide.

For approximately four years, Patrick has visited hospitals to support individuals through difficult periods, focusing on mental health and wellbeing. In addition to his physical visits, he has developed a global following through his online presence, receiving letters and emails from people who find comfort in his digital content.

The award was presented by Torbay’s Civic Mayor, Hazel Foster, and her husband, Kevin Foster. Patrick was one of 15 animal heroes recognized during the fifth annual international celebration.
