Patrick Vieira seeks tactical progress for Senegal national team

Senegal national football team coach Patrick Vieira has expressed measured satisfaction following his initial matches in charge. After securing four points from two qualification matches—a draw against Mozambique and a victory over Ethiopia—Vieira noted that while the results are positive, there is significant room for improvement in the team's tactical execution.

Reflecting on the match in Maputo against Mozambique, Vieira highlighted that the team missed several opportunities to secure a larger lead during a strong first half characterized by intense pressing and disciplined organization. He attributed the subsequent draw to a drop in physical intensity and a lack of concentration in the second half.

Looking ahead, Vieira has set clear objectives for the squad, including qualifying for and winning the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). He emphasized his commitment to evolving the team's playing style and expressed confidence in the players' talent and their willingness to adopt his tactical project.
