Patrik Laine linked to Anaheim Ducks amid NHL free agency

Unrestricted free agent Patrik Laine has reportedly met with the Anaheim Ducks as he seeks a new team for the upcoming NHL season. According to Finnish hockey insider Esko Seppänen, any potential deal with the Ducks would likely follow the team finalizing a contract with restricted free agent Cutter Gauthier.

The Ducks are currently managing salary cap constraints following the departure of Chris Kreider and the expected contracts for Leo Carlsson and Gauthier. Analysts suggest a low-cost, low-risk deal for Laine could provide the Ducks with much-needed power play production, even if he does not offer the same five-on-five or leadership qualities as Kreider.

Laine, 28, has struggled with health in recent years, appearing in only five games for the Montreal Canadiens last season. While other teams like the Los Angeles Kings have been discussed as potential landing spots due to their power play needs, the Ducks remain a significant contender in discussions regarding his next destination.
