Patrik Polc retires as Corona Brașov retires his #33 jersey
Patrik Polc, the 41‑year‑old Slovak‑born goaltender who became a Romanian citizen in 2017, announced his retirement from professional ice‑hockey. Polc joined Corona Brașov in 2010, with a one‑season break, and helped the club win six National Leagues, five Romanian Cups, a Romanian Supercup, an Erste Liga title and compete in the Continental Cup. He also featured for the Romanian national team that earned promotion to Division I/A at the World Championships.
After ending his playing career, Polc will remain with Corona Brașov as a goaltending coach for the youth program. The club plans a farewell match pitting current players against a “Friends of Polc” team, and will permanently retire his number 33 jersey, displaying it in the Olympic Ice Rink alongside the numbers of Arpad Mihály (24) and Levente Zsok (71).
