Viking Mines outlines 300,000‑tpa tungsten plant for Nevada project
Viking Mines announced that an independent concept study by Mineral Technologies has confirmed a conventional processing pathway for its Linka tungsten project in Nevada, USA. The study proposes a modular 300,000‑tonne‑per‑annum plant that uses gravity concentration and flotation to recover scheelite, with a design that allows capacity to be reduced to 100,000 tpa or 200,000 tpa by adjusting operating hours.
The company estimates a total build time of about 15 months – 12 months for procurement and fabrication of off‑site components and a further three months for on‑site assembly. The study assumes a conservative 60 % metallurgical recovery of scheelite into a 50 % tungsten‑trioxide concentrate, whereas Viking’s own recent tests have achieved a 76 % recovery and a 56.9 % concentrate. A reverse‑circulation drilling programme is under way to define a maiden mineral resource, with drilling slated to start within the week.
The project aims to leverage established tungsten processing practices while minimising on‑site construction risk through its modular approach.
