Patriotic Poetry Festival “Stijeg slobode” Held at Knin Fortress
The 12th edition of the patriotic poetry festival “Stijeg slobode” took place on 1 August at the summer stage of the Knin fortress. Organized to mark Victory and Homeland Thanksgiving Day and the Day of Croatian Veterans, the event featured 24 selected poets performing in the final evening after receiving 374 poem submissions from Croats worldwide. The festival was originally conceived by writer Nikola Šimić Tonin and was supported by the Ministry of Croatian Veterans, the Knin Museum, HKD Zadar, the Veterans Association, Bojna “Frankopan”, Ilirija d.d. and other sponsors.
A professional jury awarded prizes to poets including Robertini Vujnović, Borislav Arapović, Mate Buljubašić and Goran Ražnjević. Over a hundred attendees were present, among them cultural figures, veterans, mayors, ministers and church leaders. Speeches were delivered by representatives such as Vice‑Prime Minister Tomo Medved and Amalija Mišlov Blagojević.
