Patriots contract stalemate with Christian Gonzalez and Drake Maye's strong training‑camp finish

Cornerback Christian Gonzalez, 24, remains in a contract stalemate with the New England Patriots as negotiations for a deal that could make him the league’s highest‑paid corner continue without resolution. Owner Robert Kraft said the team has an offer on the table, but the parties have not reached agreement. Despite the dispute, Gonzalez is taking part fully in training camp.

Quarterback Drake Maye, a recent MVP‑voting runner‑up, was asked about his own contract outlook and said he is focusing on the present and not thinking about future deals. In camp, Maye rebounded from a slow start, completing 11 of his final 12 passes in a two‑minute drill and delivering a strong finish that underscored his command of the Patriots offense.
