Patriots owner Robert Kraft backs coach Mike Vrabel amid scandal

Patriots owner Robert Kraft said on ESPN’s First Take that the team is “privileged to have Mike as our head coach” and emphasized that “no one is infallible.” He praised Vrabel’s football knowledge and his ability to relate to players, adding that he hopes Vrabel will remain coach for many years.

The comments come after a scandal involving head coach Mike Vrabel and NFL reporter Dianna Russini, whose photos together at an Arizona resort and in other settings were published. Both are married with children. Vrabel took time away from the Patriots during the NFL draft to attend counseling and missed Day 3, while Russini resigned from The Athletic amid an investigation. Despite the controversy, Vrabel retains his position and has the support of players such as quarterback Drake Maye.
