Patriots poised to trade for Eagles' A.J. Brown, Eagles seek 2027 first‑round pick

ESPN NFL insider Adam Scheffer said the New England Patriots remain the leading contender to acquire Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown, with a trade expected around June 1. Scheffer noted that the Eagles are asking for a 2027 first‑round draft pick, while the Patriots would prefer to move a first‑rounder in the 2028 draft, and that negotiations are still ongoing.

Brown, 28, was drafted by the Tennessee Titans in 2019 and later joined the Eagles on a four‑year, $100 million contract that was later extended. Other clubs such as the San Francisco 49ers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Rams were mentioned as possible destinations, but Scheffer reiterated that the Patriots are the most viable landing spot given Brown’s prior relationship with head coach Mike Vrabel.

If the trade is completed, the Patriots would add a No. 1 receiver to their roster for the upcoming season, while the Eagles would look to reshuffle their receiving corps, potentially moving Kayshon Boutte and adding free‑agent Romeo Doubs.
