Patriots training camp: Lomu’s versatility and Boutte rebuffs trade talk
Rookie offensive lineman Caleb Lomu, the Patriots’ 21‑year‑old first‑round pick from Utah, has been rotating through almost every line position except center during New England’s training camp. Coach Mike Vrabel praised Lomu’s quick learning, noting his ability to play tackle, guard and even jumbo tight‑end work, and highlighted his potential to become a multi‑position asset on the line. Executive vice‑president of player personnel Eliot Wolf echoed the upside of Lomu’s versatility.
Second‑year wide receiver Kayshon Boutte, entering a contract year, said he is ignoring online speculation about a possible trade and is focused on each practice. Vrabel complimented Boutte’s professionalism and productivity early in camp, while Boutte reiterated he does not know his trade status and remains committed to contributing for New England.
Both players’ comments reflect the Patriots’ emphasis on flexibility and performance as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
