Patriots unlikely to re-sign Stefon Diggs as they focus on A.J. Brown

The New England Patriots released wide receiver Stefon Diggs in March after his single season producing 85 catches for 1,013 yards. Although Diggs was reported to be open to a new contract in mid‑May, the team acquired A.J. Brown from the Eagles, making Brown the clear top option in a crowded receiving corps.

Head coach Mike Vrabel told reporters the Patriots are not actively exploring a Diggs reunion, noting the roster already includes recent signings A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs and other candidates such as Mack Hollins and Kyle Williams. The Patriots also face a potential trade market for Kayshon Boutte. As a result, Diggs is expected to look elsewhere for a new deal.

The discussion also touched on the Patriots' need for a tight end after Julian Hill’s season‑ending injury, but no immediate plans were announced.
