Patrizia Rodi Morabito Testifies on ‘Ndrangheta Intimidation of Calabrian Businesses

Patrizia Rodi Morabito, a Rosarno farmer and Coldiretti leader, appeared before the Calabria regional anti‑mafia commission to detail a series of attacks attributed to the ‘Ndrangheta. She described arson attacks on kiwi, olive and pomegranate orchards, theft of large quantities of citrus, and sabotage of irrigation systems, including a recent fire that destroyed part of the Tenuta Badia’s irrigation network.

Commission members, including Enzo Bruno and chair Marco Polimeni, expressed solidarity, urging institutions to protect entrepreneurs who resist criminal pressure. Bruno linked the testimony to a recent sabotage of Italiana Gas S.r.l.’s equipment in Schiavonea, underscoring the broader threat to Calabria’s economic development. The commission called for coordinated security measures and support for businesses facing organized‑crime intimidation.
