Patronato UAQ reports record 13.8 million peso contribution to university
Miguel Ángel Vega Cabrera, president of the Patronato UAQ, presented his first management report, announcing that the organization contributed 13,876,680 pesos to the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro (UAQ). This amount represents a 70 percent increase compared to the previous year and marks the highest level of support provided by the patronato in 20 years.
The funds were allocated to various areas, including 12 equipment projects, 8 mobility supports, 7 infrastructure and maintenance projects, 7 scholarship and academic programs, 6 science and culture projects, 5 research and innovation projects, and 3 operational supports. Additionally, the organization delivered a 14-passenger vehicle to the Faculty of Chemistry.
Vega Cabrera also announced plans to launch new scholarships for students facing personal, family, academic, or health challenges, as well as the potential creation of university-owned companies to generate independent resources. During his speech, he urged political candidates for the 2027 Querétaro elections to provide measurable and budgetary commitments to the university rather than using it solely for campaign purposes.
