Patrus Ananias proposes mineral industrialization in Minas Gerais
Patrus Ananias, a candidate for the government of Minas Gerais, has outlined his economic and political stances during his campaign. In an interview, Ananias addressed his relationship with former governor Fernando Pimentel, noting that while they share a friendship and worked together during Ananias's tenure as mayor of Belo Horizonte, he does not intend to evaluate Pimentel's past administration.
Regarding economic development, Ananias proposed the creation of a dedicated entity to manage the state's mineral wealth. He advocated for the industrialization of resources within Minas Gerais, specifically targeting the processing of rare earth elements in Poços de Caldas, lithium in the Vale do Jequitinhonha, and niobium in Araxá. His goal is to attract private sector investment to develop products from these minerals locally while adhering to environmental and labor laws.
