Pattaya flooding: Foreign man missing after being swept into canal
A search is underway for a foreign man who was swept away by strong currents after falling into a drainage canal during heavy overnight flooding in the Nong Prue district near Pattaya.
According to reports, three men were walking together along a flooded road in the Noen Phlap Wan area when the incident occurred. While two individuals were able to reach safety, one man was carried away by the current. Witnesses suggested the group may be South Korean tourists.
Police have searched a nearby rental house used by three South Korean nationals, discovering wet clothing that appeared to match the attire seen on surveillance footage of the survivors. Investigators also recovered three computer monitors from the residence, though no link to illegal activity has been confirmed.
The flooding, caused by heavy rainfall starting late on September 23, affected several major roads in Pattaya, including Walking Street and Soi Buakhao. The Thai Meteorological Department has issued warnings for continued heavy rain in the region.
