Pattaya flooding: Body of suspected South Korean man recovered from canal
A body believed to be a missing South Korean man was recovered from a canal in Nong Prue, near Pattaya, on September 27. The discovery comes three days after the man was swept away by strong currents during heavy flooding.
The incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. on September 24, when three foreign men, believed to be South Korean nationals, were walking through flooded streets in Chonburi province. CCTV footage showed one man being swept into a drainage canal while his two companions managed to climb back onto the road. The two survivors reportedly left the scene without notifying authorities.
Police subsequently searched a rental property believed to be the group's residence, where they found wet clothing matching the descriptions from CCTV and several sets of computer equipment. Authorities are currently investigating the origin and purpose of the equipment. Local police, tourist police, and immigration officials are working to formally identify the deceased and locate the two remaining men.
