Pattaya murder investigation: Australian man arrested after teen found in suitcase
An investigation is underway in Pattaya, Thailand, following the discovery of 17-year-old Tunchanok “Cake” Donhomla’s body inside a suitcase. Autopsy results confirmed that the teenager died from asphyxiation.
Authorities have arrested 45-year-old Australian national Simon Peter Carman. Police reported that DNA found on the victim’s body has been matched to Carman, which investigators believe may have been transferred while the body was being placed in the suitcase. While brain injuries were noted during the autopsy, forensic experts stated these did not cause death and may have occurred during the transport of the body.
Carman faces four charges: murder, concealment or movement of a corpse, kidnapping of a minor between the ages of 15 and 18, and removal of a minor for the purpose of committing an indecent act. Although Carman initially admitted to being with the teenager, he has reportedly denied the charges following his arrest. Police intend to submit the case file to prosecutors by Friday.
