Pattaya police officer detained after firing eight shots in apartment
A police sergeant from the Bang Lamung Police Station has been detained following a shooting incident in South Pattaya on September 19. The officer allegedly fired eight rounds from a 9mm pistol inside a third-floor apartment in Soi Yensabai.
Witnesses and room management reported that the officer appeared heavily intoxicated, was shaking, and acting aggressively before firing the weapon. The shots caused damage to the walls and ceiling of the room, but no injuries or deaths were reported. Four women, aged between 18 and 25, were present during the incident and have been taken in for questioning. Some reports indicate the women admitted to using narcotics in the room.
The officer claimed he fired the shots in self-defense, believing that individuals entering the room intended to attack him. Police have seized the firearm and are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the discharge of the weapon and the alleged drug use.
