Pattaya resort owner defends wildlife encounter in guest bathroom

A resort owner in Koh Larn, Pattaya, has faced criticism following a guest's viral account of encountering wildlife inside a bathroom. The guest, Darin Pookung, shared on Facebook that during a stay in March 2024, she discovered three geckos on a bathroom wall, which were subsequently attacked by a snake.

Pookung reported feeling extreme fear during the incident, which required resort staff to remove the animals using tongs and a pestle. While the guest noted she did not seek compensation at the time due to financial constraints, the story gained significant traction on Thai social media.

In response to the backlash, the resort owner defended the occurrence on Facebook, stating that geckos and snakes are “part of nature” and noting that the resort is located adjacent to a forest.
