Paul Adom-Otchere criticizes government demolitions in Ashanti Region
Journalist Paul Adom-Otchere has criticized the current administration’s implementation of its 24-hour economy policy, specifically regarding the demolition of existing structures in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Executive elections, Adom-Otchere argued that the demolition of schools, banks, and other buildings to make way for new markets is causing public frustration. He questioned the necessity of these projects, noting that Ghana has possessed established market centers like Asafo, Adum, Kejetia, and Makola for decades.
He further alleged that an “arrogance of power” among government officials, including Regional Ministers and local chief executives, is driving undecided voters back toward the NPP. He claimed that the manner in which officials exercise authority in the region is causing significant annoyance among residents.
