Paul Farbrace to join Lancashire as director of cricket
Paul Farbrace is leaving Sussex Cricket at the end of October to become the director of cricket at Lancashire Cricket Club. The 59-year-old, a former interim England men’s coach, had previously announced he would step down as Sussex head coach a year early to make way for Matt Walker.
While Farbrace was originally scheduled to transition into a part-time director of cricket role at Sussex starting in November, he has instead accepted the position at Lancashire to assist in revitalizing the club following a difficult season in which they finished second to last in Division Two of the Rothesay County Championship.
During his four years at Sussex, Farbrace oversaw significant achievements, including winning the County Championship Division Two title in 2024 and securing promotion to the First Division. He expressed mixed emotions regarding his departure, stating he had thoroughly enjoyed his time at Hove and was grateful to the players, staff, and supporters.
