Paul Gallen to return to boxing ring for heavyweight bout

Former NRL star Paul Gallen, 45, is set to return to the boxing ring for his 20th professional bout in a heavyweight showdown against Nelson Asofa-Solomona in Sydney. Gallen stated that his motivation for the fight is to provide for his family, though he acknowledged his wife is “not happy at all” about the comeback.

Addressing concerns regarding long-term neurological health and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE), Gallen dismissed fears by noting he has undergone various brain scans. He expressed skepticism regarding CTE diagnoses, stating that one cannot truly know if they have the condition until after death.
