Paul George joins Boston Celtics in Jaylen Brown trade

The Boston Celtics have undergone a significant roster shift following the trade of Jaylen Brown. In exchange for the former Finals MVP, the Celtics acquired Paul George on a two-year, $110 million contract along with several draft picks.

While the trade received skepticism from local fans due to the perceived value of the return, NBA executives suggest George maintains high value. An Eastern Conference executive noted that despite recent injury concerns, George possesses a rare skillset as a large wing who can stretch the floor, handle the ball, and defend.

Former player Iman Shumpert believes the Celtics' system under Joe Mazzulla will benefit George. Shumpert suggests that the team's emphasis on three-point shooting will allow George to play more efficiently without the physical strain of constant shot creation. This setup allows George to play alongside Jayson Tatum, potentially reducing his workload while utilizing his perimeter skills.
