Paul Heaton reaches first solo UK number one with ‘Jenius’

Singer-songwriter Paul Heaton has achieved his first solo number one album in the United Kingdom with his latest record, ‘Jenius’. Produced by Ian Broudie, the album marks Heaton’s sixth career number one, following previous successes with The Beautiful South and Jacqui Abbott.

To celebrate the achievement, Heaton has announced a major tour for summer 2027 across the UK and Ireland. The tour includes a headline performance at Headingley Stadium in Leeds on June 12, 2027, as well as arena dates at The O2 in Belfast and the 3Arena in Dublin. The shows will feature material from his entire career, including work from The Housemartins and The Beautiful South.

In related music news, the UK charts have seen a surge in interest in Dolly Parton following her death at age 80. Her classic ‘9 to 5’ reached number 12 in the British charts, marking its highest position since its 1981 peak.
