Lennert Van Eetvelt wins Tour of Slovakia overall title

Belgian cyclist Lennert Van Eetvelt of Lotto-Intermarché has won the 70th edition of the Tour of Slovakia. Van Eetvelt secured the overall victory after a dominant performance in the final fifth stage, which concluded with a climb to Kráľová hoľa.

The final stage featured a challenging 12.9-kilometer ascent with an average gradient of over 8 percent. Van Eetvelt successfully defended his lead against attacks from Henrique Bravo of Soudal-Quick Step and Jamie Meehan of Cofidis, ultimately winning the stage sprint to seal his general classification title.

Earlier in the race, Hungarian rider Erik Fetter of United Shipping achieved a surprising victory in the fourth stage. Fetter spent approximately 172 kilometers in a five-man breakaway to win the 197.5-kilometer stage from Beluša to Galanta, defying expectations of a mass sprint finish.
