Paul McCartney documentary explores life after The Beatles
The new documentary ‘Paul McCartney: Man on the Run’, directed by Academy Award-winner Morgan Neville, explores the musician’s life and career following the breakup of The Beatles. Spanning the years between approximately 1968 and 1980, the film examines McCartney’s transition from a member of the iconic band to a solo artist and eventually the leader of the group Wings.
Following a screening at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles, McCartney discussed the uncertainty of that era, noting that while the public was unaware of the group’s impending end, John Lennon had been the one to initiate the departure. The documentary utilizes never-before-seen footage and archival material, including contributions from Linda McCartney, to depict his time on a Scottish farm and his eventual return to headlining major arenas.
The film also addresses various challenges from that period, including critical reception of his solo work, the murder of John Lennon, and legal disputes involving The Beatles.
