Paul McCartney Performs Beatles Hit at Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Madison Square Garden Wedding

Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce were married at Madison Square Garden in New York City on July 3‑4, 2026. After the ceremony, Swift’s mother Andrea invited all guests into the reception room where a stage had been set up. Legendary Beatle Paul McCartney, 84, took the stage and sang the 1963 Beatles classic “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” a song he had not performed publicly since September 1964. He said to BBC Sounds, “I’m like the older brother to that generation, or more like the grandad, actually,” adding that he would gladly give advice if asked. Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac also performed at the star‑studded reception.

The performance highlighted the long‑standing mutual admiration between McCartney and Swift. The two appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone in 2020, and Swift recently reposted McCartney’s Instagram promotion of his album “The Boys of Dungeon Lane,” calling him an “eternally exceptional artist.” McCartney noted that he has met Swift and other young artists such as Billie Eilish and Olivia Rodrigo at parties hosted by his wife Nancy Shevell and daughter Stella.

The wedding, dubbed “the wedding of the decade,” featured about 1,000 guests, including numerous celebrities, and was officiated by comedian Adam Sandler. The event’s cultural impact was amplified by the rare live rendition of a Beatles hit by one of its original members.
