Paul Pierce claims financial hardship in court dispute

Former NBA star and Boston Celtics legend Paul Pierce has informed a California court that he is “drowning financially” and “tapped out.” The 49-year-old Hall of Famer is currently involved in a legal battle with Princess Santiago, the mother of his son, King Rafael, regarding child support and legal fees.

According to court documents, Pierce’s financial situation changed significantly after his contract with Fox Sports ended, with his last payment reportedly arriving in August. Previously, he averaged approximately $119,000 in monthly income from the network, a figure he claims has now dropped to zero from that source. While he reported earning roughly $23,000 last month from other business interests, he maintains he cannot meet his mounting obligations.

Pierce’s monthly financial commitments include approximately $28,000 in child support and $20,000 in spousal support. Additionally, he disclosed monthly living expenses totaling about $48,000, which include $8,000 for childcare, $7,000 for dining out, $5,000 for groceries, $3,500 for entertainment, and $3,200 for utilities.

Despite these claims, court filings indicate Pierce holds approximately $300,000 in cash and owns real estate assets valued at roughly $3 million. Santiago has requested an additional $40,000 for legal fees and $10,000 for a forensic accountant to examine Pierce’s finances, alleging he has not fully disclosed his wealth. Pierce is asking the court to reject these requests.
