Paul Seixas wins Il Lombardia and makes history
Paul Seixas, the 20-year-old French rider for Decathlon CMA CGM, became the youngest winner in the history of Il Lombardia after a dominant solo victory in the 120th edition of the race. Seixas launched a decisive attack on the Civiglio climb, finishing ahead of Enric Mas and Giulio Ciccone, and breaking the previous time record for that segment held by Tadej Pogačar.
Following his historic road victory, Seixas participated in the Roc d’Azur mountain bike event in France for leisure, despite having competed in the Monument only 15 hours prior. His performance has drawn significant attention from analysts, with some suggesting his rise may force top competitors like Pogačar to adjust their future preparations.
In other cycling news, Paul Magnier of Soudal-Quick Step won the opening stage of the Tour of Guangxi in China, taking the first leader's jersey. Meanwhile, UAE Team Emirates announced that Mexican cyclist José Emilio Rodríguez will join Isaac del Toro at the team for the 2027 season as part of their Gen Z development project.
