Paul Seixas eyed as possible Tour de France winner, says Alberto Contador

Alberto Contador, a two‑time Tour de France champion who now works as a commentator for Eurosport, said the 19‑year‑old French rider Paul Seixas could still win the 2026 Tour de France. While naming Tadej Pogacar, a four‑time winner, and Jonas Vingegaard, a two‑time winner, as the main favourites, Contador emphasised that Seixas’s talent and the pressure surrounding him could be a motivating factor rather than a hindrance. He refused to rule out a surprise victory, stating in Spanish, “No me atrevo a decir que es imposible” and in Dutch, “Ik denk zelfs dat het extra motivatie kan zijn.” The comments came as Seixas, riding for Decathlon CMA CGM, prepares for his debut in the Grande Boucle, generating significant interest in France.
