Paul Seixas finishes 15th in World Championship road race after cramps
French cyclist Paul Seixas finished 15th in the men's road race at the UCI Road World Championships in Montréal after suffering severe muscle cramps during the final stages of the competition.
Seixas, who had previously secured a third-place finish in the time trial, was a strong contender for the title and a podium position. Despite the intense physical pain, he refused to abandon the race, completing half a circuit on physical reserves while his competitors pulled away.
Following the race, Seixas expressed deep disappointment and took full responsibility for the outcome, describing the incident as a “childish error” and noting that he had never experienced such cramping during a race before. He acknowledged the immense effort made by his teammates to support his bid for the championship.
