Paul Seixas wins Il Lombardia as youngest rider in history
French cyclist Paul Seixas, riding for Decathlon CMA CGM, achieved a historic victory at Il Lombardia on October 10, 2026. At 20 years and 16 days old, Seixas became the youngest winner of an Il Lombardia race, breaking a record that had stood for over a century.
Seixas secured his win by launching a decisive attack on the Civiglio climb, approximately 19 kilometers from the finish line in Como. He maintained his lead to finish solo, finishing 48 seconds ahead of second-place Enric Mas and 1 minute and 5 seconds ahead of third-place Giulio Ciccone. Remco Evenepoel finished fourth.
This victory marks Seixas as the youngest winner of a cycling Monument since World War II. His performance places him ahead of the ages at which legends such as Eddy Merckx and Tadej Pogačar won their first Monuments.
