Paul Simon celebrates 85th birthday
American singer-songwriter Paul Simon is celebrating his 85th birthday. Born in Newark, New Jersey, Simon rose to international fame as one half of the legendary folk-rock duo Simon & Garfunkel alongside Art Garfunkel.
Throughout his career, Simon has achieved significant musical milestones, including winning 16 Grammy Awards and being inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. His work spans diverse genres, from the folk-pop of ‘The Sound of Silence’ and ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ to the rhythmically innovative ‘Graceland,’ which incorporated South African musical traditions.
Recent reports highlight a softening in the long-standing tension between Simon and Garfunkel. While the duo famously split in the early 1970s following years of professional and personal friction, Simon has expressed more conciliatory views regarding their partnership in recent years.
