Paul St-Pierre Plamondon alleges federal interference in Quebec election

As the Quebec provincial election campaign enters its third week, Parti Québécois leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon has accused opponents of distorting his comments regarding immigration. The PQ leader previously linked immigration to the decline of the French language and overcrowded schools.

St-Pierre Plamondon also alleged that the federal government is engaging in the “greatest interference” in Quebec affairs since 1995 by supporting the governing Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ). He cited recent federal announcements of major projects in Quebec, including hydro-electricity agreements and transit contracts, as evidence of political maneuvering.

Additionally, the Parti Québécois has requested an investigation into a contract awarded by the CAQ to Mission Leadership Québec, an organization that promotes Canadian unity. The PQ claims the group is linked to individuals associated with the Liberal Party of Canada. CAQ leader Christine Fréchette has denied these allegations, stating that the party pursues federal partnerships when they benefit Quebec.
