Paula Badosa advances to Guangzhou quarterfinals

Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa has reached the quarterfinals of the WTA-250 tournament in Guangzhou, China. As the fifth seed, Badosa defeated Austria's Sinja Kraus in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, in a match lasting just over an hour.

While Badosa dominated the opening set, Kraus provided more resistance in the second, managing to level the score at 4-4 before Badosa secured the final games to win the match. Badosa is scheduled to face Britain's Harriet Dart in the next round.

In other tournament news, Lilli Tagger remains in the Guangzhou competition following a victory over Venus Williams. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, Cristina Bucsa was eliminated after losing to Australia's Maya Joint in three sets.
