Paula Echevarría returns to television in new series filmed in Gran Canaria
Spanish actress Paula Echevarría has returned to television fiction with the premiere of the series ‘A la deriva’ on Atresplayer. The twelve-episode production, which also stars Daniel Grao and Michel Noher, follows the story of a fictional fishing village named Bastuel, where the unexpected return of five men after two years alters the lives of their families.
While the village of Bastuel is fictional, the series was filmed across various real locations in Gran Canaria, Spain. Production teams utilized the landscapes of Agaete, Puerto de Las Nieves, and Gáldar to recreate the coastal atmosphere of the 1970s.
Echevarría’s return marks her first major role in fiction since ‘Velvet’. She recently shared that her hiatus from acting was a personal decision driven by a desire to prioritize her family following the birth of her second child, noting that the intense demands of filming schedules felt overwhelming at that time.
