Paulinchen e. V. announces national day for burned child prevention

The organization Paulinchen e. V. has announced the upcoming ‘Day of the Burned Child’ on December 7, focusing on the dangers of contact burns. The initiative aims to raise awareness regarding the risks posed by hot surfaces such as stoves, irons, radiators, and fireplace glass.

Medical experts, including Dr. Rebecca Pohle from the Kliniken Köln, note that contact burns are particularly frequent in toddlers because they explore their environment with their hands and often lack the reflexes to immediately release a heat source. Because children have thinner skin than adults, these accidents often result in deep burns, scarring, and potential long-term movement restrictions.

Paulinchen e. V. is currently calling on clinics, fire departments, daycare centers, and medical practices to register as action partners to help promote prevention, first aid, and treatment information.
