Paulo Costa criticizes UFC matchmaking and contract management

Costa expressed frustration over missed opportunities and timing, suggesting that the organization is making mistakes by failing to capitalize on meaningful matchups.

With only one fight remaining on his current contract, Costa is approaching a critical negotiation period. He noted that while he could potentially secure an interim light heavyweight title shot by renewing, he is hesitant to accept a deal that undervalues his worth. He questioned whether the prestige of a UFC belt outweighs the financial benefits found in the free market, citing the high earnings of fighters like Nate Diaz as a comparison.

Costa also advised fellow athletes to manage their careers more carefully to avoid being taken advantage of through poor agreements. Additionally, he confirmed he has been in discussions with Eddie Hearn regarding a potential move to his management roster.
