Paulo Costa criticizes UFC over denied interim title and release requests

Mixed martial artist Paulo Costa has expressed frustration with the UFC after the organization reportedly denied his request to fight for an interim light heavyweight title at UFC 332. Costa noted that the division is currently in a state of flux because champion Carlos Ulberg is sidelined with a serious knee injury.

Costa suggested that the UFC should implement an interim title to maintain momentum in the division, similar to how they handled the women’s flyweight division following Valentina Shevchenko’s injury. He stated that if a title fight is not offered, he intends to complete his remaining contract obligation with a non-title fight.

Additionally, Costa revealed that requests for his release from the promotion have been denied. According to Costa, the UFC has indicated that he must complete at least one more fight before he can leave the organization.
