Paulo Lopo named suspect in Leixões Sport Club investigation

Businessman Paulo Lopo, the former leader of Estrela da Amadora's SAD, has been named a suspect in a Public Ministry investigation regarding the management of Leixões Sport Club.

The investigation focuses on the period following the November 2016 acquisition of a majority stake in Leixões by Lopo and the Onebiz group. Authorities are investigating suspicions of breach of trust, tax fraud, and money laundering. Specifically, investigators are examining whether various services billed to the club through companies linked to Lopo were actually provided and if the invoiced amounts were accurate.

During the course of the investigation, authorities reportedly found thousands of euros in cash at the former sports executive's residence. No formal charges have been filed yet, as the case remains in the investigative phase.
