Paulo Soares, videomaker killed in helicopter crash, honored by wife

Kelly Costa, a psychologist, has released her first public statement following the death of her husband, Paulo Soares, a 24-year-old videomaker who died in a helicopter crash in Santa Catarina on September 21.

In a social media tribute, Costa described the loss as her most painful, reflecting on their relationship which began in 2019. She noted that while the world knew him professionally as ‘Paulofilmmaker’, she knew him as a partner and friend. Costa also highlighted the professional challenges Soares faced, alleging he experienced workplace harassment, racism, and professional devaluation while working in various roles.

Soares was buried on September 24 at the Alphacampus Cemetery and Crematorium in the Greater São Paulo area.
