Paulo Vinícius hospitalized after head injury in Hungarian NB II match

During a Hungarian second-division (NB II) football match between BVSC-Zugló and Nagykanizsa, 36-year-old former national team defender Paulo Vinícius suffered a serious head injury. The incident occurred in the 59th minute of the match when Vinícius collided heads with an opponent, causing him to lose consciousness on the pitch.

Medical staff attended to the player on the field before he was transported from the BVSC-Zugló Stadium via stretcher. Earlier in the match, Vinícius had also collided with teammate Máté Katona, who was unable to continue playing after receiving medical attention.

Following the incident, BVSC-Zugló press officer Tibór Hortobágyi reported that Vinícius is doing better. Hortobágyi noted that the player experienced temporary memory loss and speech difficulties following the collision but confirmed that Vinícius is feeling well. The club stated they will support the player in his recovery, though a timeline for his return to the pitch has not yet been established.
