Paulo Wanchope introduced as Herediano coach

During his presentation as the new coach of Herediano, Paulo Wanchope received a sentimental gift from club legends Germán Chavarría and Kenneth Paniagua: the jersey he wore during his final season with the team in 1996, just before moving to play in England's Premier League with Derby County.

Wanchope noted that in 1996, players were not typically allowed to keep their jerseys due to costs, making the gift particularly meaningful. Chavarría expressed his support for Wanchope and his technical staff, stating his desire to see the team return to championship status.

In a separate interaction on Wanchope’s podcast, ‘One Chope’, former national team coach Alexandre Guimaraes participated in a player selection game. Guimaraes faced a difficult choice when asked to pick between Wanchope and Celso Borges, ultimately selecting Borges.
