Pauny proposes reduced workweek amid industrial crisis
The tractor manufacturer Pauny, located in Las Varillas, Córdoba, has proposed an emergency labor scheme to the provincial Ministry of Labor due to a decline in industrial activity. The company's proposal suggests reducing the workweek to three days and paying only 50% of the salaries for the remaining days.
The Unión Obrera Metalúrgica (UOM) has categorically rejected this proposal, arguing that workers are already facing extreme economic hardship. The conflict affects 500 direct employees and hundreds of indirect jobs within the local supplier network. Negotiations are set to continue in a scheduled meeting this Wednesday.
