Pavagada: Student dies under suspicious circumstances at girls' hostel

An 8th-grade student, identified as Priyanka (14 or 16), died under suspicious circumstances at the Kasturba Gandhi Girls Hostel in Rangasamudra village, Pavagada taluk. The incident occurred on a Saturday morning when the student reportedly collapsed in the hostel toilet.

Medical reports suggest the death was caused by a heart attack, possibly linked to low blood pressure. However, the student's parents have expressed intense grief and anger, alleging that negligence by the hostel staff and poor living conditions contributed to the tragedy. They pointed to issues such as lack of cleanliness and stagnant water in the premises.

Local authorities, including the Pavagada Tehsildar and police, have visited the scene. The parents are demanding an investigation and the suspension of the hostel principal and warden. Police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination in Tumakuru and are questioning the hostel staff and classmates to determine the exact cause of death.
