Pavarotti family condemns use of voice in far-right political video

The family of the late Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti has condemned the unauthorized use of his voice in a political video released by far-right politician Roberto Vannacci. The video, which appears to have been created using artificial intelligence, features Pavarotti’s performance of the aria ‘Nessun dorma’ by Giacomo Puccini.

Vannacci, a former general and leader of the ‘Futuro Nazionale’ party, used the recording to underscore political messages while responding to criticisms. In a statement, the Pavarotti family clarified that they ‘never authorized the use of his voice, name, or identity’ and expressed strong dissociation from any connection between the singer’s persona and political messages, stances, or initiatives.

Vannacci’s party has recently seen a rise in polling, according to recent data, surpassing smaller coalition partners such as Lega and Forza Italia.
