Pavia community projects receive recognition and launch new initiatives
The “Passi Connessi – Tradizione e tecnologia per i cammini” project has received an international award from the European Association of Via Francigena Routes (AEVF). Supported by the Municipality of Pavia and the Fondazione della Comunità della Provincia di Pavia, the initiative involved 15 university students from seven nationalities working on trail maintenance, signage, and digital mapping of the Via Francigena in the Pavia region.
The award will provide funding to complete the digital mapping of the urban section of the route. This project aims to promote sustainable tourism by combining historical heritage preservation with technological innovation.
Additionally, the “Obiettivo Comunità” photography competition has launched, organized by nine community foundations including Fondazione Cariplo and the Fondazione della Comunità della Provincia di Pavia. The contest encourages participants to capture themes of community and solidarity. Rather than direct prizes for authors, the cash awards—totaling 5,000 euros for the Pavia province—will be donated to non-profit organizations selected by the contestants.
