Pavita Cooper named chair of British Fashion Council

Pavita Cooper, a diversity advocate and business expert, has been named the new chair of the British Fashion Council (BFC). She is scheduled to assume the role on October 1, succeeding David Pemsel, who will step down on September 30 after ten years on the executive board and four years serving as chair.

Cooper’s appointment aligns with the BFC’s ‘BFC 2030: Access, Creativity, Growth’ strategy, which aims to increase the organization’s gross annual revenue by 38 percent to 18 million pounds by 2030. Her leadership will focus on positioning fashion as a driver of UK economic growth and strengthening the environment for British designers and entrepreneurs to compete globally.

As part of the leadership transition, current board member Caroline Issa has been appointed to the newly created role of deputy chair to support the UK designer community.
