Pavle Đurišić and historical revisionism examined in new series

The TV Vijesti series ‘Popravni iz istorije’ (History Retake) will examine the concept of historical revisionism and its prevalence in public discourse. Historian and journalist Tihomir Ponoš will discuss the distinction between legitimate scientific re-examination of history and politically motivated attempts to reshape the past.

A central focus of the discussion is the figure of Pavle Đurišić. The program explores his transition from an insurgent participant to a collaborator whose units committed numerous crimes against civilians. This investigation is prompted by the illegal erection of a monument to Đurišić in Montenegro, an act that has reignited debates regarding how institutions handle the glorification of wartime collaborators versus the preservation of anti-fascist heritage.
