Pavlos Marinakis accuses Alexis Tsipras of political deception
Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis has accused Alexis Tsipras of political deception regarding the economic program presented at the Thessaloniki International Fair. The controversy arose following statements by Fragiskos Koutentakis, the Economic Sector Chief of the Greek Left Symparataxia (ELAS).
Koutentakis clarified in a television interview that the 7.5 billion euros mentioned in the program refer to annual expenditures rather than the total cost for a four-year period. Marinakis argued that this admission contradicts Tsipras’s previous claims. He noted that if the 7.5 billion euros are indeed annual, the total cost for the four-year term would amount to 30 billion euros.
In contrast, Tsipras had previously stated that the ELAS program would provide a total fiscal space of 7.5 billion euros for the 2027-2031 period, consisting of 5.5 billion euros from the Medium-Term Plan and 2 billion euros from new revenue sources.
